I've decided to pull out the of the spalt that is most artistic to the chunk I would be cutting even if i were only to get one really nice piece out of it.
That has some nice lines in it, I don't usually see the inclusions being as crisp as that piece ended up. Almost makes you want to take a sample and culture it up to inoculate some more logs
I started spinning a piece yesterday and the lathe took a dump. Seems the set screws are stripped , so I talked with a mechanical friend who is going to set it up to be more efficient with a speed control. Yahoo.
