after stopping by the cabinet shop to pick up another bit of white oak for another anniversary plaque, i checked with the owner as to how much it would cost to run the boards through his planer. he said a better idea would be to glue up the boards, and bring in the blank, and he would run it through his big belt sander. smoothing and flattening in the same process. so, i glued up the boards for the top today. i can't wait to see how they come out, as these are the last of the bookmatched, rift sawn white oak.

Sounds like a good deal! Having a wide belt on call could definitely be handy for a few things!!!

Looking forward to this one Dan. I liked the bed, so i presume this is going to match?

Whats the finish on all this white oak going to be?
    cheers

i would say compliment, rather than match. herself wants all of the bedroom furniture dark. so, i mixed up more of the dye that i used on the chair for the fair a few years ago. it will be that, and shellac.

after several hours of planing, corbel blanks are ready, side frame parts are ready, 4.25", 6", and 8" drawer faces are ready, top backer and bottom kickplates are ready. only items left are the internal frame parts, and the dividers for the drawers. only 1/8" to go....
