got a bit more done over the last couple of days. yesterday, gave the posts on the pulls, and the front drawer dividers a coat of gel stain. today, got three more drawers done, the last two top ones, and one of the two big bottom ones. due to the upcoming weather, i think this one will be brought home early, and finished next spring. at least we will get some use from the drawers.

went over to pop's today to hit the drawer faces with shellac, and the frame parts with gel stain before the bottom falls out of the temps. he said to do it in the basement, that way the temps are higher, and will set up sooner. not going to say no to that. got everything downstairs, and got to work. put shellac on the drawer faces first, and got a pic of some handle detail. i made sure that the quarter sawn sides were facing out. then it was on to hitting the case parts with the gel stain. hopefully, i can give them their coat of seal coat tomorrow, and the second coat of shellac on the drawer faces.

Thanks for posing the pictures. It has been interesting watching the progress. The different colours are interesting.
Although the design is all straight lines, I wondered why you didn't round the corners of the corners pulls slightly.

It's good to hear you're able to keep moving along with the weather you guys are getting up there!! Your dresser is looking mighty fine, Dan!!!

well, small progress to be sure, as the shop is now tucked away for the winter. we've got some really light white stuff blowing around at the moment. the wife :blah: has allowed me to bring it home, and set it up temporarily, then, come spring, to permanently assemble it. as for the pulls, they are exactly the way that she who feeds me wants them. she liked the way that the drawers on the bedside table looked, that she wanted the same for the dresser. since they are a bit larger, i made sure that the quartersawn side of the pulls were on the outside.

third coat of shellac on the drawers, and first on the sides, frames, long parts, and dividers.

brought the whole works home the other day, and today was the day for the final (until spring) assembly. got it together, with the aid of a couple of strap clamps, and with the help of the downstairs neighbor, got it up on it's feet, and positioned. my wife :blah: is very happy with it :bliss: now, come spring, apart it comes again, so that the carpet can be cleaned again...
