    cutting board project

    well, not exactly a start (table top planing took up all the time), but the boards for the cutting boards have been brought to the shop.

    got a bit more done today. redone one of my sleds for this project. did the first cuts on the maple and cherry parts, and planed the walnut. now that the walnut is planed, i can set the width of the cuts for the maple and cherry parts. planed the cherry stock as well (both cherry and walnut were rough cut). with all of that done, now its back to work.

    got a bit more done today. finished planing the cherry, then edge jointed the cherry and walnut blanks. i wound up with enough walnut for 10 boards. then i started cutting the cherry parts, and then the maple. i laid one out to see how the gluing setup would look like. once i lifted the box of parts, i figured that it would be easier to bring the glue and clamps over to the shop. seems that i have enough leftovers that i may be able to make a whole batch of end grain coasters too.

    too hot for much of anything today. glued and clamped the first three of the ten.
