    I really like this idea.
    I imagine something even lower profile could be put together if you wanted to weld up the base parts out of bar stock. Heck, maybe even weld it up out of aluminum.

    Something real close to that would be handy for panel carving by hand as well.

    That is from my buddy Ted. We got together a few times before he moved south. Something about snow and stuff like that. Ted's a good guy. He was selling the vice, but got fed up with selling it.

    I know Ted used his vice all the time.
