    So who here does checkering?

I just invested in a set of Dem Bart Checkering tools. I have a couple of old $100 rifles laying around that I thought I might give checkering a try on. This is the set I ordered, the Dem Bart Bill McGuire Master Set - 18 line: http://www.dixiegunworks.com/product...oducts_id=3023

Looks like I need to get setup with a jig for holding the stock and some good lighting, what other tools/resources might you suggest?

Pete Simmons does all the checkering on Heritage revolver grips. Bet he does it with his laser though.

God and family, the rest is icing on the cake. I'm so far behind, I think I'm in first place!

Nope, but it does look pretty interesting to do..

The midway video is about as close as I've gotten so far.

I wish I could help but that's one thing my dad did that I never picked up. He made several rifle stocks and did a pretty nice job with the checkering.

Been drawing up a Checkering Cradle based off the dimensions at the link below

I'll be making a few adjustments and probably just using a PVC end cap for the cup a the end.

Found a good series here on checkering and carving...

Also picked up a magnify headset and Lora Irish's book for patterns.

I have an old checkering file that was my granddad's. I need to get it out and play with it sometime.
