I attended the monthly KCWG meeting tonight. I took one of the stacked text signs, along with instructions for doing them, and a high chair for show-n-tell. Here are a few of the other items members brought.

They also had an Audiologist come and present on hearing protection safety, one of the member's daughter. Excellent presentation, covered why we go deaf, types of hearing protection, and covered types of hearing tests and remedies.

A few pics of the meeting and our shop space, they do a great job of presenting with cameras/tvs for those in the back or can't make the meeting. Found out they are adding a couple of more saw stops to the shop also, not bad for $75 a year.

Nice space. Nice shop. Commercial setting? How do they handle insurance? That has always been the bugaboo for this sort of setup around here.

Nice shop and certainly excellent work. I doubt I would ever have a shop open to the public due to the insurance costs. I know it is high. I doubt I would even have a display area open to the public for the same reasons. Too many slip and fall artists out there. They keep the small guy from being able to afford to expand.

I did see some discussion when searching for guild info that they don't have memberships for anyone under 18. The main reason is that if the minor gets injured, they would pay the claim, but when the minor reaches majority age (18), they could make additional claims against the guild. I ran that past my wife, who has been in insurance for 20+ years. and she said that it might be a state law; however, she had never heard of that on any lines of insurance worked with.

Looks like my old HS shop space. One difference everyone is OLD LOL

 Yeah, I was one of the few young whippersnappers running around in there. I've gone during open shop time and there are quite a few younger members, but many don't attend the meetings.

BTW, that seating area is being converted and two more saw stops and other tools on wheels will be placed out there to expand the shop space when not needed for meetings/training.
