    No search results

I have a post using the acronym CMS as do several others. Mine is here:

    http://familywoodworking.org/forums/...ead.php?t=3611

When I do a search (regular or advanced) for CMS, I get no results. Is it me?

    Nope, not just you!
God grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do,

I can't find "SUV" either (from the same post). It's a fairly standard practice to not handle small words in search engines. (Imagine searching on the word "the"!)

As soon as I searched for posts by you with the word post in it, I got some results ... so my guess is that 4 characters is the lower limit on searchable words.

I think Kerry's got it. SMC has a message somewhere when you search that the search term is too short, and that kicks in at 3 letters. I think it's a vBulletin thing. The SMC Google search feature works for that stuff, and I think you could run that then change the command string to FWW's site.

    Glenn,

Old webhead trick: go to google. then type this in

    cms site:familywoodworking.org

    gives this result

    http://www.google.com/search?q=cms+s...en-US:official

works with just about any site...

    Thanks,

    Bill

Yeppers, we've got the search limit set to 4 characters or more, in an attempt to keep the search index and database from becoming too large.

Bill's Google trick is a great way around that limitation.

    Just another note on this subject;
If you add the Google toolbar to your browser, any site-only search is just a click away.
