This is a small urn for my cousin's cat's ashes. She Really loved that cat, and is really depressed over its passing.

Walnut, about 5" X 7" X 4½" high. 1/8" finger joints all around (love that Incra I-Box!). The cat's name engraved (freehand) on the top using a 60° Vee bit in a trim router.

Wow, you did that engraving freehand? Most excellent (as the 80's take over my thinking)! I'd think your cousin will be really happy with the way that turned out.

Great box for good cause Jim, you got steady hands judging by the lettering.
I have same question as Brent. My guess is made box rectangular and put the curves in after glue up. ?

Wow Freehand!!! Beautiful work. Better than I can do with a laser.

I knew a guy who had a small (maybe 3") bench mounted grinding wheel. At Christmas he would engrave glass box lids - Freehand.

He did the back side of the box. So he worked mirror image or backward style. He could sit there and keep making small cuts and could talk to you while he did it.

People with these kind of talents must have a special area of the brain available that most of us do not.
