Well here is a HF I turned today with some maple burl that Ken Fitzgerald was so kind to share with me. It is 7 3/4" tall and 6 3/4" across. The walls are 1/4" thick. Was scared to go any thinner because I thought when I was turning it it was going to explode any time as I could hear it creaking and groaning. It stayed together and I am pretty pleased with it and how the monster tool worked today. I have one coat of Antique Oil on it. I gave it the the LOML of 40 yrs. for mothers day. She loves it. Pictures aren't to good as I haven't got the photo tents setup yet or able to use the tripod.

Wow, that is nice!

hurry up and get the photo tent and the tripod, can't wait to see better pics!

Lots going on in that one! :thumb:

For the "Could be exploding" pieces, have you tried the pallet wraps stuff?

Sure ups the confidence factor, as even if it does let go a piece, it will stay together, so you can find the piece and fix it. I think it really does add a lot to the structural integrity of the piece while it is being hollowed.

Cheers!

Thanks for the kind comments. Yep the pucker factor was pretty high for a while. Next time once the outside is done will probably use Saran Wrap. Give that a try anyway.

Kenneth I used the Monster HF tool from Randy Privett. It is one sweet tool.
