Darren's Laser Project

Got home to a fresh set of motor plates to install, these are 6mm thick instead of the original 3mm.

While working on those I also installed the end caps/supports for the extrusion.

I changed a few settings, tuned the motors and ran it through a couple of gcodes, performed well. Next up will be getting limit switches installed and deciding where to mount the laser driver.

I got a little closer on the project completion today, but usps didn't come through on a delivery, so maybe tomorrow to having it printing.

I got a new laser mount and the fan shroud printed and assembled

A mount for the cable chain, then reused one of my thin idler mounts used for my cable chain connection on the Y axis.

I should have the molex connectors tomorrow to finish the laser connection, but may have to print a couple of limit switch mounts yet.

Last winter I got frustrated with controller issues and had issues with the wire connectors I used, so put the project on hold. Last week I ordered a new controller that is specific to a laser with a ttl output for controlling the laser. I also ordered new motors with connectors to match and have them all installed, I just need to finish wiring up the laser connections and re attach the belts, hopefully I'll get that done tonight.

Cool...looking forward to seeing how it works out. :thumb:

I've decided to stick a fork in this project as I don't have room for it and the K40 in the office. So I spent this evening disassembling it and salvaging the screws and hardware for future projects.

However, in the process of tearing things down, I do believe I found the reason I was having so much trouble getting the motors to work, turns out they got smashed in shipping and the connectors are damaged.
