Well I finally found one!!! I won it on the bay, Item number: 300105979761. 10" Richards Wilcox quick release vise. I spent 2 hours Sat. taking it apart and sand blasting it then putting it back together. Take a look at the before and after pics.

Tom, I'm sorry, I've no info on the age of the vice, but I'd say after a paint job, it is going to look brand new! :thumb:

You sure did a nice job on it, looks like one heck of a vice.

To be honest, I'd not heard of this vice maker before, but I'm not very well versed in them.

Google it

What color are you going to paint it?

Cheers!

A great restore-save on a great tool. As far as aging, some of the dedicated Neanders here might be able to help. But, my take on these vices, is that the design didn't change much, if any, with the years. Some of today's are identical to a century ago.

That looks great, Tom. Looks like it's brand-new, except for the shop-worn handle. I'm betting it's got a lot of miles left in it. :thumb:

I contacted the Richards-Wilcox company and they sent me the price guide out of there book from 1907. That vise $9 back then... If you want I can email it to you.

Tom

Does it have pictures :D

So your vice is a 1907 vintage?

Nothing like giving new life to a 100 year old tool eh?

I guess this qualifies as "They don't build them like they used to" category!!

How beautiful! I'll give you nine bucks for it right now lol! Heck let's make it an even ten.
