Actually a CNC project to support my 3D printer operation. The filament reel stand that came with the printer was made to fit an 8mm all thread with nuts on each end. I found and printed a new hub system, then sized down an end nut assembly to suit me. Then, I needed something better to hold all that.

Drew this up in VCarve, cut it on my SO2 CNC.

At least it's woodworking of a sort! :D

The spool holder is this one: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1241566/#files

I found a rod end "Thing" but it was a hair to big to fit easily through the hub nut. I imported it into SketchUp, reduced it to 95%: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2178043

To keep the end nut from tightening against the hub, I put a little thread lock on each one after leaving a tiny bit of space.

I have had one problem with this setup. With the bearings on all pieces, the reel moves so easily I have to be careful when loading not to get it going too fast!!!
