a couple old knives

I didn't want to hijack Sean's thread on pocket knives but he did remind me of something. The two knives shown below were made by me when I was about 8 years old. That's 60 years ago folks. Those things are nearly genuine antiques. I used a drill to hog out holes in the antler then jammed in some old blades I found somewhere and secured with hot hide glue. The antler was rubbed with neatsfoot oil. I've kept and used them all these years. For those who might wonder if hide glue lasts, there is no shrinking or cracking. The blades are secured as solid as can be. You couldn't get them out with an act of Congress. I'd say the glue lasts. I'll give an update report in 40 years. ;)
