Looks great Rennie, Now that I see the bench, I do recognize it. I have seen very similar benches in sauna's in the U.P. Great for not holding water on top, usually made from cedar.

I meant to check the moisture content of that maple. More of a curiosity given it's storage in the hot rafters of the barn for many years. I expect it to be around 12-15% max, but you never know. I've heard of long stored lumber actually getting down to 8% or less air dried depending on the local climate.
Even my kiln dried lumber is around 12-15% after sitting in the barn for years. One of the advantages of using local lumber is it acclimates to the locality and is usually suitable for furniture used locally. I wouldn't want to ship air dried lumber furniture to the hot Southwest.
Very nice outcome Rennie. Proves behind successful men are usually good woman.
I might steal that design for myself. I like what i see as the seat height and the two racks for shoes still making it possible to move the whole lot to clean under without moving shoes 1 by 1 etc.
Now you need a matching coat and hat/toque hook above on wall to go with it for when that white stuff flies.
