2017 bedside table

got a bit more done today. one of my nephews agreed with me about how to do the drawer pulls. the idea is to dye the posts, and leave the handle part plain white oak like the drawer faces. worked out pretty good. hit everything with the seal coat, and the gel stain. possibly final assembly tomorrow.

well, after an additional 3 days (that whole work thing), the gel stain has finally set. then, i hit the drawer pulls with the gel stain (one thing forgotten from last week). started to assemble the case. after that was done, set the rest of the parts in place to catch the over all look. herself was quit happy.

now that the back legs are set, on to locating the table irons, and attaching the top. once that was done, added the top/top frame assembly to the case. once that was secured, glued and tacked on the front legs. now, the real fun starts. hoping like all get out that my measurements were accurate, on both the drawer faces, and pulls, i drilled the holes for the dowels in the faces and pulls. next was cutting the half inch long dowels. real fun since they have a tendency to go flying in all directions at the last minute. added the dowels to the pulls, and sure enough, all of them fit just fine. so, just for the fun of it, dropped the drawer faces, with pulls, into the case. looks pretty good, and the wife :blah: just loves it. now all that is left is make the drawers, and a couple good coats of shellac, and it is done.
