Let me start by wishing all my fellow countrymen where ever you find yourself on this historic day a Happy Canada Day.

Get your game on and celebrate this historic occasion.

My flag is out getting warmed up for the party.

Well with Canada being 150 years old today, and my family having been here for 15 years this year, we going to celebrate in good style today with a Braai. BBQ to all those born in North America.

The Barrel braais are ready for a field trial and decorated in their regalia see pics

The words accompanying the Canada 150 logo translated from Afrikaans to English say

Now we are going to Braai (BBQ).

Btw no hot dogs or hamburger patties will ever grace the surface of this Braai. That would be heresy in Braai circles.

Rather lamb rib or neck chops , Boerewors (farmers sausage homemade) Steak maybe if you desperate, chicken, ribs, sosatie (kebabs) beef short rib, pork baby back, pork rashers , mielies (corn ears) maybe some peppers on the odd occasion or other veg capable of being cooked over Charcoal none of this propane nonsense. Fish, yummy. Crustaceans ...oh and Lindas homemade pork sausages. Venison but sadly dont have any. Have to go get me a squirrel. Lol

Hungry yet??? Lol

On to the serious stuff. DONT LOOK AT THE WOOD.

The cherry is coming off and will be stripped down and finished properly. This was a major screw up on my part. (Kicked myself enough but feel free to add to the beating).

Yeah logo etc may burn off but hey we trying.

You're well rigged for a proper celebration there Rob. The braais look great, I can't see the wood problem from here :dunno::dunno:
We're in Day 2 of Canada 150 Weekend, so lobster's on the menu, to amuse some southern visitors.
Kayaking in Blue Rocks, Lunenburg tomorrow :D

Those Braai cookers look nice, I don't see the issue with the wood either, but looking forward to seeing how those cookers work (food pics ;) )

Have a happy 150th!

Happy day! But I seem to remember Canada being a little older than 150. My French ancestors showed up in the late 1620's. To a place called Canada o Nouvelle France.

We have been spending the long weekend on the front flowerbed of our new to us house. Since spring we have been pulling out trees and bushes on the overgrown property. We added a flag on the front porch for Canada Day! Two pics from moving day Jan 25th, 2017.
