This was turned from already dry live oak, which can be a bear of a thing to do. Pretty tough wood that way. This wood came from my "mystery log" pile. I did the bottom differently than I usually do for some reason that defies any explanation from me except it seemed to be the thing to do at the time and I did it. Being live oak it does have some of the usual cracks in it that I find typical with this wood. All wood was sealed with walnut oil. The outside was finished with a walnut oil/shellac mix. The inside received 2 coats of walnut oil only. The outer diameter is 8" with an inside lip measuring 4 1/4". The total height is 6 1/2" with a vessel height of 4 1/2". The vessel depth is 4". The volume came to 1/2 gallon and held a full 12 oz. package of Pecan Sandies. Yes, for all you shortbread cookie fans. I used Pecan Sandies this time. Hope you all likes it.
