next up in the pipeline, more angled and curved wine bottle holders, a dozen of each. i found that i had enough 6 inch wide boards, to make a dozen blanks. nice thing about these, very quick to make. glue up the blanks, trace out the templates (one of each per blank), drill them, cut them out, sand and finish. tomorrow will be another heavy planer day.

man, it was a hot one today. roughly 90 outside, well over 100 in the garage. took about an hour (downing 4 bottles of water in that time), and planed the blanks smooth for gluing. lost one assembly when i found that one of the parts had cracks. so, i'm down to 11 of each, not too bad, considering i was shooting originally for six. once again, i know what a self basting turkey feels like in the oven.

that's the fun part frank! jointed the long edges nice and smooth. then laid out the holders on the one side of the blank. then ran a line from where the hole passes through, marked the centers on both, and drilled the hole to the proper depth for each one (angled ones were a bit deeper than the curved ones). now all that remains, is to cut them out (making a newer, safer jig for cutting the long side of the angled ones), sand, and finish, and it will be another project finished.

got the new jig made, and rough cut all 11 angled and 11 curved wine bottle holders. now they just need to be finish sanded, finish applied, and they will be all done.

while the cnc machine was doing it's thing, i started sanding the wine bottle holders on the spindle sander. started with the angled ones (easier because only one side to smooth), and moved on to the curved ones. got all of the angled ones sanded, and nine out of 11 (started on number 10) sanded, before calling it a day. hopefully i can finish sanding, and start the finishing tomorrow. also, ran a quick test on each type.
