Sometimes the fence is an OK place to be. Not being able to commit to a spline jig for either the router table or the table saw, I built a jig that works on either. Building the jig was a good exercise that I will likely do again sometime soon as I used 3/4" ply because that is what I had available. Next time I will use 1/2" material. The 3/4" ply is too thick and forces your to put the router bit way high or expose and uncomfortable amount of saw blade to make your cuts.
The jig, though not pretty, works just fine. I had some finished cherry plywood scraps from a cabinet someone gave me a few years ago. Not enough to build anything nice, but enough for a jig or two. The miter bar is Corian.
The base has a v-grove to support the cradle and get a little closer to the blade/bit.
The jig uses t-track to lock in a pair of fences that steady and align the workpiece. The track was a leftover bit of scrap as well.
The miter bar is Corian, the usual double stick tape and TS fence method was used to align it.
I used a 3/4" bit to clear an opening for the router bits. Because the 3/4" ply requires the bit to be raised vey high I actually had to go back after this picture was taken and make the opening on the base wide enough to clear the collet.
These were cut with a 1/8" spiral bit.
Fences attached
A couple of runs across the TS and now I can use it on either.
