A couple of pictures from our launch last Friday out of Kodiak, Alaska. Unfortunately, there were some down range issues with the missile’s second stage. :( :(
Do a google on missile defense kodiak for more info.

Geez, some of those reports were way off on the headline..........

"MISSILE TEST FAILS" :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Got to get two paragraphs in to realize that the old missile "Target" failed to reach sufficient altitude, so the launch of the missile interceptor, from Alaska was postponed............. hardly a "Failure" of the missile launch.

Hey, tell them to use newer ICBMs :D :wave:

Stu, actually the Target (my side of the deal) flew out of Kodiak. The Interceptor was to fly out of Vandenberg AFB in California. Because of our second stage problem, the Interceptor didn’t leave the silo.

OK, but from the wording of the head lines of several stories, they make you think that the tests did not work, as in the interceptor was not able to hit the target, like it cannot work, but, it sounds to me like it is not a "Math" problem, but just a bad sparkplug is all.

Great work you are doing, must be somewhat exciting? :D

Vaughn, the missile and payload need to be kept warm (warmer than what the typical Alaskan day has to offer :rolleyes: ). The vinyl heating blanket has ducting running through it and is connected to a large heat wagon.
The booster & payload blankets are seamed together with large Velcro strips and the top of the strips are tied to the tarmac with steel cables. As the missile rises, the missile literally flies out of the blanket. The video is pretty cool to watch - the blanket gets absolutely toasted!
