Hi everyone
Here are a few pictures of my latest bird hotel
This one is made from 70 year old barn wood and stands 6 ft tall.

It has over 60 apartments , 10 decks and 6 doormers.
I filled 15 garbage bags with sawdust and shavings alone.:type:

Hi John, Your work is so special, it looks like fun and the results are just marvelous. You have a niche and a talent.
Congratulations on a job well done.
What kind of birds do you expect will check into the Hotel? Purple Martins?
Thanks for showing me your work.:thumb:

Thanks again everyone .:type:

Robert
This house is more for sparrows and swallows but the next house is going to be for purple martins.
I do have 3 martins here.
Next month i have a tour bus of 30 seniors coming here to see my yard and shop.
They want to see me in action.:D
I do really enjoy building them .:dunno:

John,
It is obvious you have a great time doing these, there is lot of devotion to your projects.
I really like the Martins as they are great mosquito hunters, :thumb: and arial acrobats. The Blue Angel have nothing but more speed over the Martins. Hey John, IHOP has determined I am a senior, can I get a bus to come see your work? How far is Ontario from Texas anyways?:D

Thanks Matt and Robert
I sure do enjoy building them , they are just like doing puzzles.:type:

My next birdhouse is going to be a copy of someone house but it will be for Purple Martins so the design might be a little different.
I have to build 3 freebies in a row now.:dunno:

John,

I have been fascinated by your work for a while now; it's like nothing else I've ever seen!

Do you do this for a living? How much does one of these beauties go for?

And why are you doing freebies?!

PS At first glance the photo of you looks like you've got a shotgun over your shoulder. I was beginning to wonder whether these birdhouses were just an elaborate way of trapping your supper!

Then I realised it's your mitre saw!

Thank you Duncan

I use to build houses for over 20 years then i had to retire 6 years ago due to accident.
It left me with a chronic pain disorder so i build birdhouses and lawn ornaments just to stay busy.
I have a very hard time being able to relax so i am always on the move.

The most i have made on a medium size birdhouse so far is $ 1,100 canadian
I also sell plans on my site for some of the easier houses.

I have given away about a dozen of them. No more freebies now.

This past Saturday i had over 30 people come here all at once to come see my work so i think the word is starting to get out there.
I may have to come out of retirement if this keeps up.

That's funny about my avatar because i thought the same thing when i first saw it. It,s my Dewalt shotgun :D
