    Modern Marvels - Saws

Just saw this on the cable guide for tonight:

    History Channel
    Wednesday, July 18 10:00 PM(EST)

Sink your teeth into the razor sharp world of saws. Cut across the centuries to discover how the Egyptians arduously sawed stone as compared to modern saws that slice through limestone like butter. Saws have been used as instruments of torture and tools for surgery. They are imperative for construction, salvage, demolition, and they even make music. Whether they have teeth of steel, carbide or diamond, you will be on the cutting edge of successful sawing.

Thanks for the note. I went immediately and turned it on. (commercial break right now) I may have seen it before, but not sure yet. Jim.

Roy Underhill did a show similar to that many years ago. Fascinating.

I wish it had focused more on the saws and blades we use, but some very good information. Interesting how they imbed the diamonds into the, was it carbon steel?, and it wears to expose the new diamonds. Pretty cool.
But they didn't show the 454 Chevy powered chainsaw!!! Jim.
