Scammers Getting "Fancy"

Boy, the Scammers are really getting fancy with their "Scam" Lottery Winner Notifications these days. I usually get at least two of these things per day, but the latest one is really fancy with two rotating world globes and all the Microsoft Corporation Name and logos, etc, even a note at the bottom thanking Bill Gates and his Associates for sponsoring the Lottery to Alleviate Poverty around the world.

It even has a picture of the Coordinator and his Secretary, (all this from London, of course).

(My Shop Budget sure wishes this thing was for real):(

I used to send these things to the Govt. Reporting office for these Scams, but I think they must be selling my email address to the Scammers, because right after I started Reporting them, the Scam mail increased considerably and just keeps increasing. :dunno: Are any of you getting a monstrous amount of these things too?

Haven't seen this particular scam in quite a while, but like Stu, I get several hundred spam messages a day between home, work, and play.

I get about 70-80 pieces of rubbish in my inbox every day. Thats after its been spam filtered and anything containing the words "Nigeria","Millions","Viagra" and a whole bunch of other words not acceptable under the TOS have been automatically deleted.

I really hate spammers. When I rule the world they will suffer a slow and unpleasant fate which I have not yet been able to bring myself to think about because it is so horrible. There are a few things in life which contribute to what I think of as low level unpleasant and deleting rubbish generated by low life scum who think that deceiving people out of their money is acceptable is about the top of my list.

Wow, are we in complete agreement!

The big thing for my junk box lately has been "You've been sent a greeting card.....". I shudder to think what happens to the poor fool that actually clicks on that link!

Yahoo's spam guard does a reasonable job of minimizing these. I'm down to about a half dozen a day. Since it's free on my Yahoo account and our big dollar system at work for work email does just about as well, it makes me wonder about that "enterprise" product.

P.s. I almost forgot . . . .Ian gets my vote for world ruler if he adds to his platform a law that would euthanize all persons involved in sending me anything I didn't ask for be it junk snail mail, flyers in my screen door, slips of paper under my windshield wiper or electronic invasion.

A bit harsh, perhaps, but moving in the right direction.:D
I would not buy from anyone using the above mentioned tactics based on principal alone!

I very seldom get any spam after using my servers spam filter.

Hmm. Reminds me. Guess I better go check it to see what it has filtered out that it shouldn't have  :D

Yeah, that is a problem, since I run a business online (the L shop) I can't really crank down on my server's anti spam filters, in fact we had to take them up a notch or two from the default, as we had a few customers that got filtered out and ended up phoning us

Oh well, I don't wish the spammers any bad luck, I just hope they look twice before crossing the street...................

There you go, Stu. I fixed it for you! Jim

I click on it all the time and all I get is this exe file that won't do anything

I see maybe 5 or 6 a day on 4 email accounts. I have Thunderbird set to trust mail header decisions from spam assassin
It nicks just about every one

Boy, am I ever in agreement with Ian and Glen. Although some goes into Junk Mail, I have mine set kinda minimal, as it was cutting out several Friend's correspondence and other important mail, but still letting quite a bit of the junk through, so I get minimum of two "Lottery wins" per day, (usually 4 to 6), plus bewtween 40 and 50 other spam msgs, so I just go through and click them off.

The special word or words on my hate list are:
1. Spammers
2. The words or use of......."Politically Correct", (can't expect anyone to actually tell you the truth of what they are thiniking anymore), dern, I hate thin skinned people.
3. Junk Snail Mail
(There's a few others, but these are the top 3)

JMOAEOGO:D
