Very interesting. But some things never change. Some curious indexing holes in the headstock. Wonder how those were used. 18th century turners were called 'boggers' and were the lowest paid of all craftsmen. Like I said, some things never change. ;)
 
I don't care for the lack of horsepower on his lathe, but I do envy his electric bill. :D Overall, pretty neat stuff, that is why I enjoy going to so many museums and stuff.
