Half-overlay doors question

Sounds like your stiles are going to get a 1/4" haircut. This may be a problem visually and maybe not depending on the profile and the original width. If the problem is due to doors opening back to back and hitting each other, there are hinges that may cure this without the size modification (I'm assuming the doors are not already drilled for hinges).

This is no real help but, the depth of the rabbet will be dependent on the hinge design. 3/8" is nominal. The width will be determined by the opening size v.s. the door size, that is 16" wide opening, 16 1/2" door would use 5/16" rabbet in my shop.

As for visual appearance, I am not the guy to ask. I would totally trust Tod or Steve or Vaughn or anyone except me. I know what I like when I see it, I just have a hard time getting there from scratch :thumb:
