Hi Steve,

Looks wonderful to me. I got one in pretty rough shape a few months age and will try to clean it up in the coming months (when the So FL humidity lets up) and would like some advice specifically on the body.

I bought a battery charger to try the electrolysis method but have read Jim Delaney's advice in another thread about SOS , ScotchBrite pads and WD40.

Could you give some pointers on how you went about making your's look so nice?

Sorry to chime in . . .

but I've taken my last two or three ( 5c, 78, 289 ) down to the local Motorbike shop and had them bead blasted. Done the next day. Its a departure for them so I drop ten bucks on the counter. Gets into all the tight places very well. Comes back with a dull look but I just polish the " bare-metal " surfaces with some 300 then steel wool. The rest is ready for the Japaning. The only part he had a hard time with were the insides of the rabbet plane handles. I found that so long as I used the asphaultum japaning material it bonded and blended with the old stuff inside the handles.
