Buying Books

This might be a reminder to some, and a heads-up to others. When looking for books on Amazon, don't forget to check the "Used and New" link. I've found a number of WW books listed for under a dollar with shipping of $3.99 from their affiliated sellers - even when Amazon is selling the same book for $15-20. Typically, their prices are close to Amazon's when shipping is added - but then there are these nice surprises.:D Beats even eBay prices.

Two other options:

1) http://www.abebooks.com/ -- ABE links up thousands and thousands of used bookstores all over the world.

2) http://www.bookcloseouts.com/ -- This is a giant "remainder" bookseller. Since the product turns over regularly, you never know what they'll have in stock. But they have had large assortments of Taunton press books in the past, for an example.

(Anyone who lives in Southern Ontario area can visit the main warehouse/store of this company in St.Catharines. I often go there the week after Christmas, as they have their annual half-price sale -- 99% of the stock is half off their already low prices. My sister lives nearby and visits regularly, and they sometimes have other deals, like "fill a box for $xx" where they clear out lots of books.

Abe Books is excellent. They will also do searches for you on out of print books. They keep your 'want' on file for a period of time (one or two years) and notify you if they find one.

I've tooled around on half.com, but haven't bought anything from them to date. Maybe I need to look some more!:thumb: We found a long out of print book for my Mom at Abe books a while back - it is excellent. Bookcloseouts is a new one to me. I'll need to find some time to troll around there. Thanks for the links!

Edward R. Hamilton is another good site. And Dover Books has good sales on books - especially on goofy kids coloring and craft books:D.

I posted originally just because I didn't want anyone to miss the "fine print" on Amazon. But it looks like we have a run on good book sites!:D:thumb:

Any more out there?
