Here's another bowl from the recent batch of alder I got from the lawn guy. This piece had a hidden inclusion that ended up penetrating the foot. It's got enough worm holes to guarantee it won't be used for ice cream. It's about 9 1/2" wide by 3 1/4" tall. Finished with Antique Oil and spray lacquer, buffed with tripoli and carnauba wax.
I had some problems with tearout on this one, and the 120 grit left some gouges in the soft spots. Not one of my best, but it is what it is. BTW, the white-looking spots in the inclusion are reflected light...it just looks like it's packed with white diamond compound.
As always, comments and critiques are welcome.
