Here's my first HF from green to finish. This is some Minnesota ironwood I "rescued" from a firewood pile a few months back. PLEASE critique away.....hack and thrash so I can learn.

It is 3" tall and 5 1/4" wide, 2 coats of AO, no buff as no buffer yet. I was able to get the "top" around 1/8"...but it gets thicker and rougher as you hit the bottom (3/8").........and, obviously no photo cube either .

Barry, for the first hollow form you did a great job, one remark, keep an eye on flowing curves. Hey, keep up your good work. :thumb:

Well Barry I don't know anything about turning at all "Yet."

However, I do know that I would be proud to display that bowl in my home! :thumb:

Very nice work. Be sure and take pictures of it after the finish.

Real good for a first, Barry. :thumb: Real nice-looking wood. For a challenge next time, let's see you turn some hard wood. Not telling you anything you don't already know, but critique-wise, I'd make the foot a bit smaller and the shoulders a bit more rounded.
