Have an old Stanley #5c (I've got a "c" " thing " ! ). Only got the body and frog but it was screaming for some love. Figured to finish it I'd just pick up a #5 off the bay cheap and canibalize it. Soooooooo . . . Heres the history lesson . . . the year they changed the adjustment knob from brass to plastic the same knuckle-head changed the woods to a MUCH lighter colored (and I assume cheaper ) wood. And I was avoiding those $ 80.00 sets of rosewood.Now I'm trying to stain them down to that rosewood color. Still cheaper but . . . live & learn.
