    Chestnut pics

Does anyone have any pics of a peice turned from chestnut? I have some nice chunks that are going to get cut into boards and was wondering what is like for turning and what it might look like.

Hi Al, this is Sweet Chestnut UK style.

And some in work, might give you some more idea of grain patterns.

    Great work as usual Chas!

Great post over there on the other side of the pond too!

That Chestnut looks a lot like Beech............

    Cheers!

More like Ash close up Stuart, growth rings are far more distinct than Beech, and Chestnut is somewhat warmer in colour.

Chas, thanks for the pics and link. I have never seen any form of chestnut other then in tree form. Now I have to go and con my buddy to bring the wood over and stack it for me. I ended up with around 15 nice size chunks(16"L x 19" across) that need to get cut into blanks and two logs 10' long for planks.
