Red Elm Bowl

This came from a storm-downed tree in my back yard. I've got loads of blanks from it.

Dimensions are 9 1/2" x 3 1/4", finished with Mylands. After seeing that 3-part foot here (I think on Travis' HF), I had to try one. It could have used some more hand sanding but I got tired. There were a couple cracks that I had to fix with CA but it turned out okay.

Thanks for looking.

Lovely bowl!!

Elm is a lovely wood for bowls isn't it? the grain can be so wild and the spalting has so much contrast.

cheers eh?

Man, that's some pretty wood, Cody. Great job on the bowl.

I believe the technical term for the bottom treatment is the "Stinson Footsies". :D
