My one main question for those of you who do use CA as a finish on your pens. How the heck do you stop from gluing the pen blanks to the mandrel or the bushings?????
I don't do anything to prevent. Just snap off the bushings afterwards. I always re-mill the ends after turning so any rough edges are smoothed over then.
I don't use anything either, but I will sometimes carefully score the end of the barrels at along the bushing w/an Exacto knife to prevent the CA from chipping at the break.
I do about the same as Billy. I do make sure I twist the bushing instead of pulling it straight off. Seems to help keep it from chipping the finish on the end of the tube. I'll have to try Robert's wax idea. That sounds like a better way to go about it.
