I'd just get an female assistant to help me whenever I needed to hold the cord out of my way. Something nice to look at maybe...that being the assistant and not the cord by the way. 
I figure that would be more like old time woodworking where they had an apprentice in the shop.
We had a maid here at the house for the longest time. A sharp looking 22 year old girl that did an alright job. A few comments about helping me clean my shop and Mrs Johnson decided we no longer needed a maid. Funny how that worked out.

Well not really Norman, The sky hook is up and useable and I have the chain hoist to play with right now.
My worker changed day jobs and shifts. He has been more playing with it than working on it.
We are about to start the sheet rock patching, when they are done and out of my way, I'll tackle the elect. hoist.

Don check Mc Master Carr for hoist cord trolleys I don't know if this is what you had in mind.They work really well
