I didn't read every post, so if I'm repeating something that has been said my apologies.

I noticed Suzuki San is using a scraper made from a power hacksaw blades.

I know you are a flat worker from back in "The Oak" days, So you may be onto this already. I've used cabinet scrapers for a while now, but I never used the tool rest like he does. Not sure if I want to try that... yet...

Cabinet scrapers works well on some woods and not others. The shavings are very thin and it helps smooth out the outside curve of the bowl. You can feel any flat spots or bumps and the scraper just smooths them out.

I hold the scraper low, way below center, so if there is a catch, I just fall into air instead of wood.
