Can anybody tell me why some of the Sears Craftsman table saws are called "zipcode saws"? Thank you.

    22114,

I think they should be called by their city names then, 22124 is Oakton, VA (very fitting, don't you think?) 22114, uhhhh, well it was a good idea. Maybe contractor saws don't count. Jim.

Well, maybe this does work. Is 22114 Fairfax, VA?? Not as clear from my google search as the 22124 zip. Jim.

According to the USPS website, the 22114 Zip Code does not exist.

That was my first thought. Another search gave the impression that in might be the zip for Fairfax, thus my post that was questionable. Thanks! Jim.

Just factor in the rip in the fabric of time and think fourth dimensionally; each model number reveals the coordinates of the origin-point of the subsequent model. Did u remember to carry da bum? Good!

Wow, did the 60's just check back in on me or what? Sorry about that obscure Firesign Theatre reference. Must be past my bedtime.

Maybe Sears can number one as 04986...that way not only will customers ask "Why they call these zip-code saws",they will also ask "Where the heck is Thorndike Maine."

PS: The only reason we have a post office here is because the other three towns around us don't! Heck those towns don't even have fire departments they are so small. Yep no kidding....
I have no intention of traveling from birth to the grave in a manicured and well preserved body; but rather I will skid in sideways, totally beat up, completely worn out, utterly exhausted and jump off my tractor and loudly yell, "Wow, this is what it took to feed a nation!"
