I was reattaching my router to the plate for the router table.

I was trying to find a match for the little screws that hold the Zero Clearance Insert to the router plate. One slipped out of my hands - guess where it fell !!!

You got it! - right into the fan exit of my Bosch 1615 EVS router.

I flipped it over and shook it around - it didn't fall out! I can hear it rattling around inside - against the inside of the body/case.

Now I need to find the directions on how to remove the case to get it out . . .

If I turn it on - do you think it will kick out on it's own? :dunno:

I'll put it on full speed!

I turned of the lights and came upstairs. Enough for 1 day . . .

Cheers

Dave:

Thanks for the link to the exploded drawing and parts list.

I love how they are generic : I want to get more nuts for the threaded rod but they conveniently don't list the diameter/tpi of either part. I'll bring a sample to the HW store - maybe I'll get lucky.

The dropped part actually migrated to the top of the router. I pulled the top cap off and there it was. Could have been worse . . .

Going forward I'll be very careful about what ol' fumble fingers holds above this router while it's inverted.

Cheers

Jim

Jim ....Yes it could be much worse.

I once dropped a small screw driver in a 2000hp / 1200 rpm motor once.
We all had a bad habit of putting our hand tools on top of motors while we worked on them.
The the cooling tower on top of this motor was off due to the type crane
lift that needed to be done on the motor, which left the motor wide open.

Took hours to recover from that one.
Funny, My boss told me just before we started the job, that the top was open and be carefull not to drop any hand tools in the motor.

Just as soon as I reached up and released the tool with my fingers
I knew it was tooooo late! :bang:

Took awhile to live that one down.
