    Cherry burl lidded box

This is a lidded box/vessel from piece of cherry burl that was given to me by Pete Jordan (Thanks again Pete!). The whole thing is about 7" tall x 3.5", including the finial which is rosewood. This piece of burl is IMHO the prettiest piece of wood I've ever turned. And it smelled like my granddad's cherry pipe tobacco that I remember as a kid. It's finished with semi-gloss lacquer.

You sure have done justice to the beautiful burl. Finial looks wonderful too and compliments the burl perfectly.

Curt that is a beauty. I have a couple pieces of the burl from Pete. Guess I had better get it out and get it chucked up by the looks of that piece.

Really beautiful. I love the grain and the shape and the way you have managed to keep the grain so close acroos the lid to the base is very well dne.
