    Lasrt of the weekend's labours

    Natural edge spalted beech with bark inclusion: 9" tall, 4" dia top sealer & wax



    Tulip wood, (american poplar) longest edge 8", bowl 2" dia sealer & wax.

    Interesting pieces Peter! Both are unique but I really like the spalted beech - beautiful coloration! Nice work - thanks for posting!

    can you show a side perspective on the triangular platter? Both look positively smashing though.

    Pete, both are great pieces but I like the natural edge more than the triangular piece.

    Nice work as always, Pete. I'd say the triangle bowl is my favorite of the two. Did you cut it to shape before or after turning the bowl? If it was that shape while you were turning it, that definitely required keeping track of where your knuckles were at all times, huh?

    The triangular piece is an offcut that I simply cleaned up and then put on the lathe. I have done a few like this where the offcut has a specific shape. I find pieces like the goblet more likely to rap knuckles as there are more bits sticking out.
