This piece of beech was badly spalted and the brown areas were really soft so I soaked them in thin superglue.
9" tall, bowl is 3 1/2" dia at edge. Stem is just over 1/4" thick
That's the stuff. Over here you can buy the thin stuff cheaply in pound shops, like your dime store. It soaks into soft wood and stiffens it up. Som,e people sue it on pens as well, rubbing it on as a sealer with a plastic bag or rubber gloves.
