Could it be an early attempt to ensure customers bought 'Brand accessories' but still allowed them to advertise 'Morse taper' ?
Do you really think they planned ahead to that extent? At that time, that sized machinery was either Delta/Rockwell or Power Matic. (US market) Not much competition in the downsized industrial market. Anything else was more massive and industrial in size & quality. Still the same parts would interchange. In the last school where I taught, we had Jay Faye & Egan, Oliver as well as Rockwell and PM. All assessories interchanged. Burt we had few "add-ons" mostly utilizing the MT. I think it was a machining setup but the why will never be more than speculation. The "Who Cares" has already surpassed the "What For?" Those that decided to have already "Gone over the rainbow with Dorothy and ToTo"
