I guess you'd call this a lidded bowl or lidded vessel. It's Box Elder Burl and Koa. The bowl and lid are box elder, the rim of the lid and the base of the finial are segmented koa, the finial is a small piece of burl and koa. It's 6.5" tall by 6" diameter, finished with danish oil.

Beautiful Curt. How did you get the ring in the bowl? If it is a secret and you will have to kill me after telling me forget it!!!!:rofl:

Thanks!

It's no secret Bernie. I just use a parting tool to make a small ledge inside the bowl. Then turn the segmented ring to fit it exactly, apply a small amount of CA and glue it into the ledge. Once the glue is dry then you can work on the ring shape in the bowl.

Very very nice Curt, I had the same question as Bernie had, but I read your answer. I call it a lidded box, but well a surprising one.

You're on a roll with this idea, Curt. I think I prefer the previous one, but this is still excellent work. :thumb: I wish I had your level of creativity.
