And as usual, one good YouTube link leads to another. Someone posted still pics of this a while back, and it sounds about like I expected it would sound:

I wonder why they did not try and fell a tree with that thing?
I have no intention of traveling from birth to the grave in a manicured and well preserved body; but rather I will skid in sideways, totally beat up, completely worn out, utterly exhausted and jump off my tractor and loudly yell, "Wow, this is what it took to feed a nation!"

There was a thread on the Arboristsite.com forum about the day that thing broke a chain in a cut. There is a thing called chainshot that occurs with high powered harvester bars like that where the broken chain acts like a whip and throws the last couple of links like a bullet.

Luckily the guys pickup was downrange, the chain fragment went through the guard, the tyre and punctured the engine sump. They are very carefull about who is standing downrange of it now

    "oh I'm a lumberjack and I'm insane,
I take my v8 and hook it to a chain,

I cut through logs, it takes two guys,
it throws some links, and puts out yer eyes."

    That's comedy gold right there.
