I've saved just about every table saw blade I've ever bought, all carbide tipped. Most of them are around 24 to 40 tooth of the $25 - $40 variety.

What is the going price for sharpening these? And would it be worth spending the money on doing so? Or better off just buying new ones?

hi darren ,

i just copy/pasted this from forrest's website . mind you this is for thier blades , and the table they used didn't transfer over here well but basically up to 12" in diameter , 32 to 40 teeth is 20.50 and 42 to 60 teeth is 22.50 . not too bad i would think :) you have to prepay shipping to them (clifton nj) and the shipping back to you is added in the price of the sharpening HTH

I sent my blades here:

Scott's Sharpening Service
5214 W Luke Ave. Ste 7
Glendale, AZ 85301

1-800-594-7262

Very satisfied with the results.

Send them to Ballew Saw and Tool in Springfield Mo. I think there phone # is 1-800-cut-rite nice people to deal with ask for Steve or Jack. They have been doing sharping for all over the US and started I think around 1969.
Tell them Jay from Republic sent you and if you talk to Steve tell him to be nice.

Thanks all, I'll check with one of the local hardware stores here. They do a lot of the old fashioned services that the borg stores don't do around here. Was just trying to get an idea if it was cost prohibitive to sharpen vs. buying another $30 blade.

I think you would be just throwing money away trying to sharpen a $25 saw blade. I think the carbine is probably so poor that it wouldn't hold an edge long enough to recoup your investment. Plus if you ship your blade someplace the shipping cost will probably be about $10 each way.

I take my blades to a local shop here and if I remember it cost me something like $25 to sharpen a 12 inch 60 tooth blade.

Surprising so many folks have trouble finding a sharpening service. I don't think I have ever been anywhere that there wasn't a half dozen sharpeners within a 15 mile radius of my home.

I see you are in KCMO Call Bellsaw up there and ask them to tell you someone in the area that has bought one of there sharping systems. It should only cost you around $12 to $14 to sharpen a blade that about what Ballew charges and with enough sharping I think they have free shipping. :thumb:

The US Postal has a free 3-1/2" x 12" x 14" FRP box that's ideal for blade shipping. All the blades that can be stuffed in there with thin cardboard spacers can be mailed anywhere in the US for about 9 bucks. Up to 70 lbs.
