    Discovery channel bowl turning

I think this was on "how's it made" but not sure. Very interesting vid about mass produced wooden bowls. They make it look easy.

    Aww, man!
Interesting but where's the fun in that?
I guess commercial ventures aren't interested in fun.

That is very neat the way they do that, but...... well, the one thing I did like was their bowl blank production set up

Well, I guess this is why there are so few professional turners. Can't compete with that technique!

But I guess if I were running that business, I'd go in the same direction...

    Thanks,

Some how I don't think I'd enjoy it as much as doing it my way....

Not for me. I know I couldn't do that.

That is a bowl factory in Holland, MI. That's about a 30 min. drive for me. Personally, I don't know how they make money if they keep them oval. I don't know if the sanding in the video took that ll out, but I doubt it. They must be cheap enough to make the poor shape irrelevant.

Well, they must sell them quite cheap, and they are being made in US. Just imagine the same factory in China.

I felt really sad when I saw so much good wood wasted in such a soulless items.

The worst part comes when people expects to pay the same price for something that has been made with lots of love, thougt and respect for the material
    Best regards,
