Turned today an Oval tealight holder for the birthday of my daughter Karin.
Had to turn it in a hurry, because tomorrow she celebrate her birthday, so not much time left for me.
Well I have to bring up later a couple of finishing layers, but It seems to me a nice gift to her of my first oval turning.
It's a oak tealight holder, 200x170mm, turned it first with a parting tool to get the oval shape more or less and after that with a sharp pointed bowl gouge. Turned pretty well.

Thanks for looking, and comments are of course more than wellcome.

Cheers Ad

Congrats on finishing your first oval project, Ad. :thumb: I'm guessing it must be quite a challenge to keep the tools steady as the workpiece moves side to side.

Keep them coming!

Vaughn, after a couple of try's you get used on these movements, but you need a ferm grip on your tool, using a sharp parting tool for getting the oval shape works the best. It was a long term project but also a fun project for such an old guy like me :D
