    Home-Made Clamps

Do you make any clamps yourself and, if so, how?

I have, though some would argue it is a jig. I'm on the way to work this morning so no pics, but I have taken two strips of plywood and I have some 1/4"-20 hardware on either end that I use to hold shorter pieces together to send through the planer as a bundle to make them all identical width.

I've used a pair of wedges and dogs on my bench to "clamp" up a couple panels when I had all my long clamps in service doing other panels. Some of those wood bar clamps are on my roundtuit list.

4" pvc pipe cut in 1" widths. Then cut one side, makes a good cheap clamp for small pars.
God grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do,
and the eyesight to tell the difference.

My wife, Myrna, totally cracked up when I showed her your, "Those who keep an orderly shop..." motto (or whatever you call it).

She is my "finder." Whenever I cannot find something (happens frequently) I go to Myrna, give her a description, and, of course she finds it right away. Upon occasions she has told me that I can't find anything unless it stands up and yells, "Yoo Hoo!".
