Location
Lakeport NY and/or the nearest hotel
Lori and I skipped town for the weekend, the two older boys are manning the fort, the youngest is with his Grandmother. The hotwire deal worked as stated, nice room, easy check in, no problems at all. Now to see if we can find a nice place for dinner, we'll be all set. Lori's out doing the $40 a day bit and seeing what local restaurants within walking distance of the hotel are good.

I'll probably be a geek and check in just because I can, but if you don't hear from me for a day or two, you'll know why. :D

Any plans for rafting the river? The Lehigh is a blast!:thumb:

nope, we're zipping over to carlisle tomorrow to gather up a couple of things that my mom has brought up from VA to Dickinson College, where she's attending a reunion this weekend. Plus doing some shopping over in Reading at the outlet mauls,e tc...

Why allentown? Just cause of the good rate on a nice hotel. We just picked out a brew-house/restaurant up the block for dinner and will be ambling up that way after we freshen up a bit.

If you're going to be there over the weekend.... A long time ago the LOML and I used to take mini vacations in that area several times a year. We stayed at the (IIRC) Washington Inn in Strasburg. They had a Sunday Buffet called "The feast of the huntsman". It was GOOD!!! (I think it's been renamed - this should be it http://www.historicinnofstrasburg.com/index.html)

We loved taking the train ride and we visited the PRR Museum also.

You'd appreciate the woodwork in the Victorian cars.

Don't know how far you want to wander, but if you're meandering a few miles get thyself down to the Brandywine Valley and visit Longwood Gardens.

There. That should keep you busy for a while :D

got up at 7AM, headed out to start the day, just got home a few minutes ago for the last time. We had breakfast at a nice diner near Reading, got mauled at the outlet stores (spent too much, but got some new clothes for work, plus a new drill/driver to replace my 18V B&D which is stuck in reverse. Got a newer version of the same drill, doubling my batteries for $55.)

Then it was off to Carlisle. Met up with my Mom, who handed off a 'new' seat for the wife's grocery getter (drivers seat bracket failed and we werent' able to find one up home, but my Dad is an awesome parts-hound, so he found a whole seat for us), a new sewing machine for the LOML and an infrared heater for the shop. More details and pics once I can get them home.

We got back, got cleaned up and went out for dinner after a quick trip to replenish the LOML's new meter strips. New in that she was diagnosed with Type II diabetes last week, and she ran out of metering strips. She's doing much better on the new medication and has seen daily improvement of her numbers. Her fire dept bought us dinner (gift certificate from the annual banquet) at the Olive Garden.

After dinner, we scoped out the Woodcraft store, they're having a 15% off bag sale tomorrow. Guess who is sleeping in and going to the sale?
