Got lately a couple of oak table tops, 1 5/16'' thick.
I knew my daughter Karin, can use a lot of stuff for her household, since she live on her own for almost a year, also I knew that she missed a serve platter for snacks or crackers, or something else. So I decided to make a serve platter for her.
The platter is 12'', and finished with three layers Glitsa, a kind of floor lacquer, so the platter is washable and scratch resistant.
Anyway I had my fun this week, only the oak was pretty hard to turn.

Thanks for looking.

Nice detail on the bottom. I would have liked a smoother transition to the base of the platter and maybe some rounding over at the edge.

It sure looks very functional though and maybe that is what a serving platter should look like.

A very thoughtful and functional gift. That platter should serve her well (no pun intended) for many years. The base treatment looks great, too.

However, now you've done it. I'm thinking I need to make LOML a bread plate/platter. There just aren't enough hours in the day. sigh :)
